Missions

The project aims to understand how transposable elements are controlled in the single-celled eukaryote Paramecium using computational and experimental approaches.

Activities

– Conducting experiments to generate samples for omics analysis
– Conducting biochemistry experiments: purification of proteins and protein complexes, pull down
– Omics data analysis (RNAseq, ChIPseq, genomic DNA-seq, etc.)
– Presenting results in writing and orally
– Ensuring the traceability and reliability of results

Skills

Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, library preparation, cell culture, and imaging
– Proficiency in computer languages (bash, python, awk, R)
– NGS/omics data analysis
– Proficiency in statistics for high-throughput data analysis
– Generation of figures from high-throughput data
– Pipeline development
– Rigorous, autonomous, dynamic, good team player
– Excellent command of spoken and written English essential

Work Context

The successful candidate will join the Programmed Genome Elimination team at the Institut Jacques Monod in Paris. The Institut Jacques Monod (IJM), a joint research unit of the CNRS and Université Paris Cité, brings together around 300 people and is one of the leading centers for fundamental research in biology in the Paris region. The host team (https://www.ijm.fr/recherche/duharcourt-lab-vf/) is particularly interested in genome dynamics in Paramecium. The IJM is located on the Paris Cité University campus in the Paris-Rive Gauche business district (13th arrondissement of Paris; accessible by all means of transport: Metro 14, RER C, Tramway T3, bus 62 and 89).
