The publishing landscape is constantly evolving, being reshaped by new technologies, open science movements and changing incentives in academia. This talk will delve behind the scenes of publishing at the Journal of Cell Science, highlighting how to prepare an article and navigate the submission and peer review process. We will also explore emerging trends and challenges, such as the rise of preprints, experiments with peer review, alternative publishing models and the use of AI, as well as careers in the publishing industry.
