CNRS Workshop Conference “Gene transcription in yeast: From single molecules to separated phases”  June 25th-30th 2022

About the meeting

For more than 20 years, the Gene Transcription in Yeast meeting series biannually brings together researchers using yeast to study mechanisms of gene expression. Owing to the exceptional experimental accessibility of yeasts – in vivo and in vitro, in S. cerevisiae, S. pombe and other yeasts – the yeast community keeps generating both pioneering method development as well as new concepts that often inspired analogous discoveries in the metazoan/human system. The meeting traditionally covers all steps from chromatin to transcription to RNA processing, and integrates different approaches such as structural biology, biochemistry, genetics, cell biology, high-throughput, computational, systems and single-cell technologies. While this groundwork is maintained, there is also a special focus for each meeting. The subtitle “From single molecules to separated phases ” reflects both a renewed attention to the individual molecule as well as the will to embrace the exciting discoveries on liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) mediating the compartmentalization of many cellular, including nuclear functions. Invited speakers will talk about the discovery, function and biophysics of LLPS and the intrinsically disordered proteins involved in their formation. They will cover single molecule analyses including structural studies and systems biology will bring a quantitative flavor to the many genome-wide studies also dealing with the co-existence of concurrent machineries (e.g. replication) on the DNA. Importantly, talks selected from submitted abstracts and posters presented in prominent and extensive sessions contribute a wealth of cutting-edge research from the vibrant yeast community.
