The Institut Jacques Monod is proud to announce that the scientific article “Evolution of a novel left-right asymmetry in organ size by co-option of a tissue rotation process” published by the Courtier lab is one of three articles selected for the Development 2025 Outstanding Paper Prize!
Check out the news from Development on this topic:
“Our second finalist, nominated by Cassandra Extavour, is from Lefèvre et al. (2025) and brings together evolutional developmental biology, morphogenesis and behavioural studies. The authors address left-right asymmetry in the genitalia of Drosophila pachea and use genetic and pharmacological approaches to show that an interesting and unusual tissue-rotation process contributes to this asymmetry. Finally behavioural analyses provide evidence of functional organismal impact on mating that results from changing the morphology.” Read more
