Research Engineer Position (M/W)

Contract duration: 1 year

Contract start date: September 11, 2023

Apply before August 15: https://emploi.cnrs.fr/Offres/CDD/UMR7592-BENPAL-008/Default.aspx

We are looking for a highly-motivated Research Engineer to be in charge of the DECODERS project, supported by the Labex who am I? (http://www.labex-whoami.org/en/) and hosted by the Institut Jacques Monod (CNRS/Université Paris Cité, Paris 13e, France).

Several research groups from the Labex consortium aim at understanding the molecular bases of genomic processes such as transcription, replication and repair, in a variety of model systems and physiological (or pathological) situations. As a support for their research, the DECODERS project aims to develop common methodological pipelines for spatially-resolved proteomics and transcriptomics at individual genomic loci. The chosen strategy relies on proximity biotinylation approaches coupled to CRISPR-based targeting to specific DNA sequences, an efficient and versatile method for the identification of the protein and RNA species enriched at given genomic or cellular locations.

In this frame, the recruited engineer will:
– develop tools/reagents and implement novel approaches to be used in proximity biotinylation experiments;
– apply existing workflows in a defined set of pilot experimental models;
– assist and train collaborating team members in the design and the realization of the experiments.

Proteomic analyses will be performed with the ProteoSeine facility (Institut Jacques Monod).

Qualifications

The applicant must have a PhD in biological or biochemical sciences and demonstrable experience in molecular biology and biochemistry. Previous expertise in proximity proteomics (BioID, TurboID, APEX) and/or genome editing (CRISPR-Cas9) will be greatly appreciated. Strong organizational and team working abilities, as well as verbal and written communication skills in English will be required.

Application details

The position (IR, Ingénieur de Recherches) is fixed term for 1 year, with the possibility of extension, and can start at any time after September 1st 2023. Applications including a CV and a cover letter highlighting he suitability of the candidate for the proposed project, as well as the contact details of 2 referees, should be submitted through the CNRS portal: https://emploi.cnrs.fr/Offres/CDD/UMR7592-BENPAL-008/Default.aspx
