The engineer will deploy image databases in several institutes within the scope of France BioImaging (FBI) Paris Centre and/or work on tools for their interoperability.
Activities
The engineer will deploy image databases in several institutes within the scope of the Centre France BioImaging Paris and/or work on tools for their interoperability. These image databases will allow storage, backup, archiving, online processing, annotation and data mining. The engineer recruited will be responsible for deployment, administration, training and maintenance.
Skills
The candidate engineer should have a strong theoretical and practical knowledge of database-driven computer development,
theoretical and practical knowledge of dedicated software (SQL database, Python), theoretical and practical knowledge of virtualisation and deployment, ability to apply a project management methodology (SCRUM Master, XP…), ability to program in different computer environments, Windows and Linux.
In addition, it is very important that the person recruited has excellent interpersonal skills: listening skills and adaptability to interact with several engineers and researchers from several sites.
He/she will also have the expertise to be able to discuss with the ISD and the data producers in the research institutes.
Working context
France-BioImaging is a distributed research infrastructure at the crossroads of molecular and cellular biology, biophysics and engineering, mathematics and computer science. This unique infrastructure brings together several large biological imaging platforms and research teams specialised in research and development for imaging, within 6 geographical nodes and a transversal node “Image processing and data management”. France BioImaging has defined a proactive multi-year strategy to strengthen HR demands in image data management and analysis. The infrastructure, in conjunction with the Image Processing and Data Management node, has defined its data management plan, based on the coordinated implementation of image databases in data centres.
The engineer recruited will share his/her time between the imaging platforms of the Institut Jacques Monod and the Institut Cochin in Paris, working under the supervision of the local IT managers and in close collaboration with the platform engineers. He/she will be part of the national FBI data management team under the supervision of the FBI mission managers in charge of the national deployment. In the longer term, he/she will deploy the database on the other imaging platforms of the University of Paris, and contribute to its extension to the different sites of the FBI Paris Centre node.
