SUMMARY:Paris Postdoc seminar - Annapaola Angrisani
DESCRIPTION:Annapaola Angrisani (Institut Curie) présentera un Paris Postdoc Seminar sur le thème : \nUnderstanding Centromere Fragility : Replication Stress and DNA Damage Burden \nRésumé : \nThe centromere is a key chromosomal region required for accurate chromosome segregation. Despite its essential role\, the centromere is inherently fragile\, exhibiting a high susceptibility to replication stress and DNA damage that contributes to chromosome breakage and aneuploidy. This fragility stems from the repetitive DNA architecture of centromeric sequences and their unique chromatin environment\, which distinguish centromere replication dynamics from the rest of the genome. \nIn the seminar\, I will examine how replication stress—common in precancerous and cancer contexts—promotes centromere instability. \nMechanistically\, we show that the centromeric replisome operates under finely tuned and unique replication programs supported by specialized DNA replication and repair factors. \nI will also discuss the specific DNA lesions to which centromeres are particularly prone\, and how these lesions can potentially trigger centromere breakages and recombination events\, threating genomic integrity.

SUMMARY:Séminaire de l'Institut Jacques Monod - Marianne Roca
DESCRIPTION:Invitée par l’équipe Konstantinides\, Marianne Roca (Postdoctorante dans l’équipe Genetics of Behavior\, Max-Planck-Institut für Neurobiologie des Verhaltens – caesar\, Bonn\, Allemagne) présentera un séminaire de l’Institut Jacques Monod sur le thème : \nFrom avoidance to attack: Rewiring mechanosensation in nematodes \nRésumé : \nSensory systems are finely tuned biological mechanisms that allow organisms to detect and interpret critical environmental cues. Changes in these systems can reshape behaviour and drive evolutionary innovation. Unlike the strictly microbivorous Caenorhabditis elegans\, the nematode Pristionchus pacificus has evolved predatory behaviour towards other nematodes. This behavioural expansion provides a unique framework to investigate how sensory systems evolve and how they acquire novel functions. By integrating genetics\, neuronal imaging\, and comparative approaches\, this work examines how mechanosensory pathways have been co-opted to sustain efficient predation\, offering insight into how sensory circuits are repurposed during behavioural evolution

SUMMARY:Séminaire de l'Institut Jacques Monod - André Nussenzweig
DESCRIPTION:Invité par l’équipe Prioleau\, André Nussenzweig (Laboratory for Genome Integrity at the National Cancer Institute\, USA) présentera un séminaire de l’Institut Jacques Monod sur le thème : \nGenome Stability in Post-Mitotic and Mitotic Cells \nRésumé : \nAndre Nussenzweig is a NIH Distinguished Investigator and Chair of the Laboratory for Genome Integrity at the National Cancer Institute in the United States and a world wide expert in the study of genome stability and DNA damage repair. His scientific career is marked by multiple seminal contributions that have shaped our current thinking about DNA damage repair and how it can be harnessed for therapy. As a scientist initially trained in experimental atomic physics\, including a postdoctoral stint in Paris with Nobel Laureate Serge Haroch\, who then switched field to dedicate his independent research program in molecular biology\, Dr. Nussenzweig brings a unique perspective to identifying and solving complext biological problems. Dr. Nussenzweig’s impactful research has been recognized with more than 25 major awards and recognitions including membership in EMBO\, the National Academy of Medicine and that National Academy of Sciences.
