Monod-Diderot Course (M2)
Every year the Institut Jacques Monod proposes a 6-credit course for M2 students entitled: « Gene expression from cell to organism ».
This module is designed to complement the training of Master 2 (M2) students and is intended to help them to comprehend the mechanisms of gene expression and their variations at different levels of integration (from chromatin to development of "model" organisms). The possibility of visualizing, by imaging methods, the various stages of gene expression is one of the specialities of this module.
Students must have already acquired the basic notions of cell and molecular biology (reference book: "Molecular Biology of the Cell ", 4th edition, Bruce Alberts et al., published by Garland Science. An electronic edition of this book is freely viewable on the web at www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/bv.fcgi (Keyword search) )
The course is composed of 2 weeks of lectures and hands-on practical sessions, and represents 6 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System).
The maximum number of students is 12. Students must attend all sessions. If at least one non-French speaking student is enrolled for the course, classes are taught in English.
The last Monod-Diderot Course took place from January 16th to January 28th 2012.
