Palaeogenomics and Molecular Taphonomy
Sommaire
The Paleogenomics and Molecular Taphonomy facility, opened in October 2009, consists of a high containment laboratory designed for the analysis of single molecules. It is part of the Institut Jacques Monod, where there are other highly efficient core facilities for, in particular, genomics and proteomics.
Alongside the Institute’s own Paleogenomics and Epigenomics research projects, this center hosts interdisciplinary research projects in national and international collaborations. The projects combine molecular taphonomy (the study of the processes that affect an organism after its death up until its analysis), the study of the evolutionary and archaeological aspects of research in paleogenetics, and the development of methodologies in paleogenetics.
The facility is currently hosting projects centered on the following themes :
- Analysis of the degradation and preservation of DNA in animal tissues during burial
- DNA repair in vitro
- Bone diagenesis
- Phylogeny, phylogeography and phylochronology of animal populations
- Evolution of biodiversity and Human
