Electron Microscopy

The core facility  Electron Microscopy at the Institut Jacques-Monod has been assessed and found to meet the requirements of ISO 9001 by AFNOR Certification. The certificate is valid from 2009-12-30 until 2012-12-29.

This facility aims to provide the Institut Jacques Monod and the surrounding research community with state-of-the-art instrumentation and technical expertise for ultrastructural analysis of the cell and subcellular components using high resolution EM methods: ultrathin sections, serial sections, in situ hybridisation, rotary shadowing and negative staining of macromolecules and subcellular fractions, freeze-fracture replicas and immunocytochemical techniques for micro-organisms, isolated subcellular fractions and for cells and tissues. Teaching sessions and training of investigators and students are also available. Fees are payable for all services.

The engineer in charge of the EM facility ensures the maintenance of the equipment, the preparation of biological samples, electron microscope observation and data collection.
